The Future of Training Church Leaders: Episode 5

October 10, 2016

Today we discuss the future of training church leaders. Our church recently installed 3 new elders. We tell the story of how this came about and share the training process we used.

Many churches don’t have a succession plan for their elders and pastors. What happens when the elders retire or go home to the Lord? We don’t want to leave our churches in a position where they are scrambling for good leadership. We believe it’s important to invest in the next generation of leaders and disciple them into these positions so that the church can transition their leadership when the time comes. We would even argue that the health of the church is dependent on raising up these Biblically qualified leaders.

We also discuss seminary training vs. “on-the-job” discipleship.
